Inside the Securities and Exchange Commission
|
Arthur Levitt tells of his years as Chaiman of the SEC and some of the changes he sought to level the playing field for the small investor. That he met strong resistance every step of the way is not surprising. Those who made their money and maintained their power by keeping public investors in the dark were not about to allow Levitt to change the old way of doing business. He persisted and progress was made under his administration. Even more changes have been made since he retired from the SEC as the debacle of Enron and others made it apparent that the old system no longer worked. This well-written tale deserves its best-seller status.
