A Wizard did it.

I have mixed feelings about this book - in parts it's very good, the sex scenes for example are incendiary ! However I finished this book feeling somewhat cheated.
None of the characters have any reasonable back story, things happen without reason or explanation - I got tired of the bad-girl-nightclub-hostess suddenly turning up whenever she was needed - how did she know ? How did she track down the addresses of her conquests ? Who knew that the way to make a complete stranger fall in love with you, is to deny them sex on the first date ? How do you become mega rich from running lesbian clubs and filming porn ?
And if you do, how do you not notice that you are surrounded by psychos?
The answer comes about 2/3rds in - with the naming of dogs - Ares and Zeus - ok, I get it, this is a Xena uber.
Lazy, lazy, lazy. Those references should have been edited out. What really stuck in my craw, though, was near the end where the cop *cough* Gabrielle *cough* was being censured for breaking the rules - and she got all tearful and uber Xena suggested sueing - get away ! Gabricop was an awful police officer, breaking rules, witholding evidence etc. - she deserved expulsion at the very least.
This is by no means a bad book, but it ain't that great either.

Wonderfully intricate plot and seductive characters ******
|
Liz Adams - Beautiful, charming, seductive lesbian who just happens to be prime suspect in a serial murder investigation
Erin McKenzie - Straight, married cop who goes undercover to trap Liz and ends up falling for hers charms
I loved this book so much, the storyline was gripping and the romance between the two women was powerful and I read the whole thing in an evening
Liz has to be my favourite heroine (yes, heroine!) of all time, Ronica Black makes her so believable I think I've actually fallen in love with her myself!

When undercover work requires working under the covers, danger is an uninvited bedfellow… Erin McKenzie, a newly promoted homicide detective, lands the assignment of her career when she is chosen to investigate Elizabeth Adams, the number one suspect in a slew of serial murders. Adams, elusive and devastatingly beautiful, is not only an accomplished seductress but also a lesbian. I could not put this book down. Love every seconed of it. Ronica writes for Radclyffe's new lesbian publishing house and you can tell. Go on Buy it you'll love it....
