Customer Reviews:
Fat fraud diet more like
Having seen Winner on TV recently I was rather shocked to see the results of his weight loss. I thought the poor sod had cancer or something. Then I saw he had a book out, the Fat Pig Diet, well I thought if he can lose 3 stone by eating less there must be something in it. What he failed to inform everyone was that he lost the 3 stone by being laid low with some mysterious illness that kills 95% of the people that get it. Well thats allright then, I'll just have to poison myself with oysters and hope I don't die in the process. What a complete fraud. He fluctuates up and down the scales for 7 months adding and shedding about a stone over this period, which just about anyone can do with a bit of attention to what you eat. The only thing that keeps you reading is the little anecdotes he slips in as he name drops unashamedly and spends money like a drunken sailor eating out in the best establishments and generally leading an hedonistic and useless existence whilst making money writing this rubbish. Shame on you, just another useless diet book to be consigned to the recycle bin along with all the others.
Winners on to a Winner!
I thought it a good book, quite funny, and although the food he eats is way above us mere mortals who do not fequent restaraunts or live a jet set life, the principles he uses in the diet are available to us all, in fact he does not really know how he has lose the weight!, the simple reason is that unknowingly he has been on a so called new diet called the calorie shifting diet whereby you trick the body into not knowing what amount calories are coming from day today, or what type of food source either protein,Carbs etc, the body mintains it metabolisum and burns fat,a simular thing happend to stone age man and they did'nt know what was happening either.
If you study what he eats its all mixed up Carbs, protein, calories diffent each day, to use this diet with normal food, you simply shop for differnt types of heathy food you love and eat smaller portions,I've been doing it for a while and have lost loads but I eat realy well, swap what Michael eats for thing of simular type, but not of course costing as much!
Give it a go, at least you will be happy and well fed giving it a go.
A bad diet book but a great read, one for the fans!
Do not buy this book if you are interested in dieting like some of the previous reviews, this book is for fans of Winner's brilliant observational writing and for that it hits the mark. This is really a spoof of the usual overtly optomistic diet books that clutter our shelves upto new year and rather than give smug self-appreciative advice on how "you to can shed those pounds", Winner just claims to forget it, we should all enjoy life and that includes stuffing ourselves! A brilliant book, that is a definitive purchase for those that love the "Winners Dinners" colummn. If any lesson can be learned, its that you should enjoy your food and appreciate the quality rather than being miserable and stuffing yourself on burgers. It avoids five stars because if you cannot get Winner's style of humour or you simply do not like the guy then it falls rather flat as the whole book is driven by his exploits.
good title shame about the rest of the book
to be honest i was captivated by the title, but i was really disappointed. the book is rubbish all he talks about are the stars that he knows and tell you hope he lost 1 stone in 7 months. AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. what he doesnt tell how he lost the previous 2 stones, but he probably lost that due to his illness. i didn't even finish the book because it was so bad. the only good thing about the book is the point he made that you have to eat less and that is why i gave it one star. dont waste your money, because you will be disappointed.
Nothing remarkable here...
Michael Winner decided to write a book after successfully shedding over three stones (42 lbs)in a relatively short period. Well, the whole book can be summed up by "eat less and you'll lose weight". That's really it. About three quarters of the book is Michael's diary of what he ate each day - which is just much smaller versions of the rather large amounts he used to eat. Michael is only saying what we all know to be the only real way of losing weight: cut the calories, up your activity, and you'll lose weight. If you want to keep the weight off then limit your calorie intake each and every day of your life. It takes willpower and self-discipline, but it's the only way.
