Dip in
|
This is a fine example of what someone once dubbed "loo books". I hasten to say that this is not a comment on their content, or the quality of their paper: rather that they are books you need not read right through but can just dip into where you have a few minutes as the contents consist of many small sections rather than a sequence.
Anyone who enjoys opera should enjoy it. They will probably know some of the content, but most will come as a surprise and one has to wonder how the author went about finding these nuggets and constructing these lists. He is a producer at ClassicFM, which has done so much to popularize classical music that one can almost forgive those irritating adverts (thankfully absent here) and that no doubt helped.
The book is suitable as a gift, even one you give yourself, and well worth the money.
