Excellent results from this book

We have just used this book for my 9 year-old daughter, with excellent results. Firstly, we listened together, and then we put it on every night for the first three nights, and every night was dry. Then we had moaning from her little sister, so my 9 yr-old was only getting to hear it after the little one had gone to sleep, at a point when she herself would go to sleep in the middle, which resulted in two nights of bed wetting. And then came the breakthrough; she realised that she didn't need the CD itself with its soothing voice and music, she only needed to carry out the instructions; set her guards with a lock on her wee in her imagination, and go to sleep. And she worked this out for herself; I'm so proud! Now she sets her guards every night, settles down and listens to a CD of Prince Caspian, and next morning she's dry. Wonderful: no medicines or machines, problem solved in a week and fabulous confidence boost for her. I believe she's also learned a useful early lesson about the power of the subconscious. Think carefully before you buy this...

I have never written a review for amazon, despite having used the website for years. However, I feel compelled to give negative feedback for this item & put off anyone else who's thinking of buying it. My six-year-old is still in nappy pants at night, and very conscious of it. She would love to be dry at night, and I thought this sounded like a gentle approach for her - a bit of subliminal learning at bedtime. I should have listened to it first. Within minutes she was in floods of tears, saying it made her feel really stupid that she had a problem. The CD starts by trying to get the child to relax, using terminology like "a lovely warm feeling down your legs" which immdediately made associations for me of warm urine, not exactly helpful for the intended purpose. Then it tells the child to use a penknife to carve their problems on a tree. Since we have never described the night-wetting as a problem, my daughter was really upset - she doesn't want to wet herself, but she can't seem to master the knack to staying dry all night. I really do advise you to think very carefully before buying this. I'm hoping my daughter will eventually grow out of the night wetting and if not, then I think I'll see my GP rather than try any other alternative methods such as this CD. I was really cross - the last thing I intended was to make her feel worse about the issue. A big waste of money.

This is definately worth a try

Having tried many other options - alarms, books, rewards to try to help my son to stay dry at night I bought this with a great deal of doubt. However as soon as we recieved the CD we began using it along with an open, positive state of mind. Within three days my son stopped wetting the bed and has remained dry at night. He is so happy and his self-confidence has grown. This is definately worth a try in my view.
