This book, although not the best written, gave me some details about Peter that I did not know. Having known him since he was about 16, the book gave an honest account of his life, outside of his "up front" image that he shows to the public. My wife and I found it a very sad but amusing read, and a true account of his life, that, knowing Peter, must have been hard to divulge at times. The namedropping is Peter all over, but the "names, love him as the book shows. It is a good read, that many can relate to, or have memories of the his past.

What an Ego

someone bought me this book as a present for a secret Santa, and i have just finished reading it. thats a good few hours of my life i wont get back. the bit that stunned me most is that this guy actually exists and this is his life. A washed up comic shouting at drunks on a late night radio show, pompous, arrogant, and a wannabe celebrity. Such a sad man. it would have actually been a hilarious read had it been a spoof, this mans life is Partridgesque, with boring dull stories about famous people he once bumped into. A sad man indeed.

I'd rather read about Kev Seed!
|
I was a big Pete Price fan and like many people I was awaiting his Biography with much anticipation, however, I was sorely dissapointed. With a title such as "Namedropper", I was expecting lots of showbiz gossip and scandal, however, I only got to read about an ageing "star" who never quite made it and who has a mother fixation!
What a boring read, I can't wait for the Biography of Kev Seed!

letdown

I'm a real fan of Paul O'Grady and was born in Liverpool, but now live in the Midlands. My partner purchased this book for me thinking I would enjoy reading about this celebrity Scouser. However, I had hardly heard of Pete Price but after reading the description on the back of the book I was truly excited to read about this guy and his extraordinary life. However, I was seriously dissapointed. For one the book is really poorly produced - more in the style of something from a vanity press. The images in many photographs are blurred and the grammar is horrendous throughout. The stories he has to tell are really quite 'sad'. There are many descriptions of social faux pas and cringeworthy fleeting moments with celebrities. One can't help but think this is just a prank - like the character of Alan Partridge created by the comedian Steve Coogan. I'm not sure if it is, but even if this is so it is not very funny at all.

Disappointed.

I am a big supporter of all things Scouse and have thoroughly enjoyed the biographies of such "Scouserati" such as Cilla Black and Claire Sweeney (even Kerry Katona at a push) and I was excited to receive a copy of Pete's book in my Christmas Stocking. However, I was so disappointed, the quality of the book is terrible and pages started to fall out, it is full of grammatical errors and typo's and worse of all, I have lost all respect for Pete Price! He used to be a likeable presenter, but seems to believe his own hype (which only he generates) and has completely lost his way.
A bit of humility wouldn't go amiss Pete.
