An excellent course with plenty of listening and opportunity to exercise speaking skills. The first thing you notice {compared with other courses] is one book but 12 cd's a total of 16 hours of instruction on discs to master the language fast.
There is plenty of speaking practice and listening to understand and become proficient in the language. The first time basic sentences are spoken slowly with space for you to repeat the words with new words introduced immediately before the sentence. The second time is for listening to understand,the third time is normal speed as spoken in Hungary.This is followed by sentences and drills using vocabulary already learnt. The methods of instruction incorporates guided imitation, repetition, memorisation and coversation all on the discs. The book contains notes on the basic sentences,notes on the grammar and pronunication. After the notes there is systematic and detailed practice of the new words and features learnt in the basic sentences on the discs and written in the book for you to follow.
The book uses out of date coinage and other minor out of date concepts in a few places but this doesn't distract from learning the language proficiently and quickly. Book printing has a few letters in words missing. Could benefit from a dictionary of words introduced at the end. Good value for money because of audio component and practice given. Note this is followed by volume 2 and 12 cd's in same format.
