Great set - fab present to receive

I asked for a set of Jane Austen novels for my birthday and was expecting the usual paperbacks - what a joy to find this - beautifully bound hardback, small books with a ribbon page marker, on bright white smooth quality paper (not the usual rough cream/grey stuff we've got used to). They are clear and easy to read, small enough for a handbag. Jane herself would have approved - book's to be cherished and savoured. Nicely boxed and sympathetic to the age it was created in! A lovely gift to receive. Many thanks to my hubby for getting this so right!

Beautiful little books!

This set is a must for the Austen fan. These editions are made to last and stand up to repeated readings and schlepping in pockets or purses. They are smaller than a pulp paperback but the print size is nice. The paper is very white and perfectly smooth with just a hint of blue to it
Like another commenter said: I can see Elizabeth Bennett curled up with one.

These little books are a joy! They are exactly the right size to read in bed. The paper and print quality is fantastic, as are the bindings and gilt edges to the leaves. I love the periodic illustrations too. They are supplied in a tight-fitting case - which is a nice idea, except that mine didn't stay in the case for long as I am half-way through them already! If you love Austen, you will love the quality of these books. And don't believe that all lovers of Jane Austen are women. I have really appreciated her stories for fifty years now. Thank you Amazon for suppying such a delightful set.

Ideal thoughtful gift for any Jane Austen fan.

Beautiful.
I brought this set for myself, and i was pleasently surprised.
Each Book is small and compact and presented in Gorgeous Red and Gold, and delicate enough that you could almost see yourself as any of the Bennett or Dashwood Girls reading in the libuary.
As the novels speak for themselves, i can only say that this set would make a prefect gift from any Jane Austen Fan.

I think perhaps it matters with the classics which publisher you buy because on my travels i have come across versions of these books published by an Australian publishing house whose editing leaves a lot to be desired, as for videos.. I couldn't say but the plots of sense and sensibility, where the bright passonate nature of women is cautioned, else they'll go mad and have to marry sad drippy old men is just sickening.
Another collection of men are secretly in power so behave books and videos that serve as a warning to anyone who likes life that they will not be approved of.
