Insightful read from a successful Bond screenplay writer
|
Christopher Wood penned the screenplay to two smash James Bond movie hits in the 1970's: "The Spy Who Loved Me" and "Moonraker" (the latter pulled over $200 million in global box office receipts upon its release).
This is a highly insightful look into what goes on behind-the-scenes in the creative process of the James Bond films. The whole thing reads like great fun and the writer tells us about his first hand experiences. He is exceptionally honest throughout - telling us, for example, what got scrapped from the dialogue scenes and what made the final cut.
Christopher Wood, of course, has produced a whole load of other stuff but will always be fondly remembered for his contribution to the Bond series.
This book is very humorous and is a page turner if you're a fan of the Bond concept - not just the films, but the whole international media profile.
You can hear the writer talking about his experiences (again very candidly) in some of the extras/audio commentaries on the Bond DVDs.
If you're a James Bond fan, then this book is simply a must for your collection.

Christopher Wood is a funny man. His insights into the world of Bond are delectable. This book affords a very close analysis of the two James Bond films the author was involved with as screenwriter; The Spy Who Loved Me and the very similar Moonraker.
This book is essential reading for any Bond afficionado. I just wish he had written other Bonds.
