Customer Reviews:
disappointing
Having read the reviews, I decided to buy the book and what a disappointment it was. It is only after three quarters of the book, the author decides to talk about how to overcome procrastination. Unlike other self-help books, the initial chapters are wasted on the theories behind procrastination. But the worst was yet to come. The suggestions to overcome the habit are just ridiculous. for example, drink more water (!!!) regular excercise and keep physically active (!!!!). This is a con
Brilliant book - it was almost as if the author was reading my thoughts
I'm a terrible procrastinator. I can find an excuse to put anything off and it was starting to lead me into a spiral of depression and unhappiness as I never achieved my dreams. This book has been a brilliant route to finding the solutions I needed. Not only that, but part of my procrastination usually results in my buying endless self-help books which sit unread on my shelf for years to come, but this one was really good to read, entertaining, well written and not preachy. For the first time ever I read the whole book from cover to cover without getting distracted! The other really nice thing is that the book is written by a UK author and so doesn't have that cheesy American 'New-age' feel about it. Good solid British advice, just the way I like it.
Isn't it about time
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It opened up for me many aspects of procrastination which I had not previously considered.
It is written in a style which is both entertaining and accessable. At times it made me laugh and appeared to be quite light-hearted, but this only reinforced my awareness of the skill of the writer, as she takes us through the 'procrastination spiral' and then offers help and suggests possible solutions to overcoming problems, thus revealing an in-depth knowledge of her subject. This knowledge she shares with the reader in a way which makes you feel very able to relate to what she is saying.
Reading this book has certainly made me look into the many ways in which procrastination can affect our lives without perhaps us being aware of it.
I recommend this book to everyone, even to those who think they do not procrastinate - you may be in for a few surprises!
A book for our times; constructive and empowering.
When I first came across this book; my first instinct was; will I have time to read it?

I'm glad I did as it has provoked me to get on and
do the things I've always wanted to do but never had the time ( or so I thought ).

I like the general approach which is constructive and informative, with lots of anecdotal and personal references.

In the course of reading this book, I have noticed that a lot of my "projects" have been realised. Others have been discarded, never to be resurrected.

I have found a new sense of purpose in my attitude to my work and greater committment and understanding in my relationships with people on every level.

I have much more time to tackle the challenges of today and and look forward to tomorrow with more optimism.

Andrea's book is a rewarding read, and a pleasure to recommend.

Insightful, funny and filled with practical solutions.
I found this book both well researched and easy to understand. The anecdotes and examples given feel familiar and help to bring the problem of procrastination to life with great warmth and humanity.

I particularly like the Action Spiral and the way in which the author has used this to illustrate the varying stages within which we may procrastinate. This has enabled me to be more specific about where, when and why I procrastinate, helping me to personalise my solutions and coping strategies.

In this book Andrea Perry has given us an insightful new language to understand how "putting things off" can damage our quality of life.

I continue to find myself dipping in and out of it's pages, accessing its wealth of practical solutions and the support embedded in its pages that comes from feeling someone understands you.
