I found this book a real gem. Intersting if you like 'things egyptian' a bit of brit 1930s history and a real life story.

I loved this book. Mary Chubb writes with such affection and wit and the story unfolds with real pace. She introduces the archaeology of Egypt with a passion and human interest which is rare, and her portraits of her fellow archaeologists are vivid. An inspiring and moving story.

A charming account of life on an Egyptian excavation

Mary Chubb's writing is full of fun and humour, conjuring up the atmosphere of archaeology in the 1930s. Six young friends go to Egypt to dig at Tell el Amarna, the city of Akhenaton and Nefertiti, and Mary Chubb explains the period clearly and in a very readable style which is also very funny and touching. An inspiration.
