A very good book describing what the West children went through at the hands of their parents Fred & Rose West

This book which is one of many I have read on Fred and Rose West it gives you a true and detailed insight to the life of Stephen and Mae West, from when they were small to adulthood and what it was truly like being a child of Fred and Rose, from the abuse to day trips they take you through their thoughts and what really happened to them and the other children in there own words. This book makes you understand how children survive in the most extreme curcumstance's of abuse and being degraded by their parents. As Stephen and Mae got older they desribe how they came to terms with the terrible things their parents did and this takes you right up too Fred West's suicide and Rose West's Trial and convictions of Murder. At the end of the book it writes out the letters from Stephen and Mae to Fred before he commited suicide and letters to their Mum Rose and letters to from Fred to Rose, and Rose to Fred. A Very good book if you know the case, even better for any crime fan who likes to know what the people involved really thought and their story, another brillant insight to the children of Fred and Rose is the Anne Marie West story but not for the faint hearted.

Rather nasty in places, but a unique insight into the West's

Inside 25 Cromwell street is indeed a very interesting read as it was written by Stephen & Mae West (Two of Fred & Rose West's children). With details of the ordeal the two of them went through throughout and after the time living with their parents, it can be rather harrowing in places. But for those who wish to know the further gruesome details, I would recommend Colin Wilson's 'The Corpse Garden'. Nevertheless, this is a superb chance to try to understand the torture and torment that the West's victims suffered. I just hope that publishing the book helped them in some way with tackling their past.

frightening and repulsive

Be prepared to be sickened by this. Written as a true account of the Cromwell Street murders by the Wests' very own children, the News of the World have published a no holds barred account of their childhood - warts and all. It is only after reading this that we begin to realise the full horror of events within those four walls for many years prior to Rose and Freds incarceration though ending on an almost hopeful note of the childrens sympathy and feeling toward there Mother that is the only ray of light. It is word for word their own dictation and I really can only recommend this book for those who wish to understand the conditions - certainly not for those with morbid curiousity, either way, you'll get more than you bargained for. Truly, truly horrific.
