I FEEL ON TOP OF MY GAME!
I have now completed the program and I can see the difference it has made to my sport that no other program has. I feel effortless strength and precision in my movements. This book basically shows you how to make the best of your gym time which best transfers to the field.
I think if you want to improve your strength and power for sport and stop wasting your time in the gym following programs designed for body builders its second to none. I do suggest that you read the text thoroughly as some small details can be misunderstood, but its well worth it. I have just ordered the workbook ready for next season which contains the next level.

Not good, Mr Colgan
This book is presented with endless spelling mistakes, typo errors and pixelated photos, which doesn't give for much confidence to say the least. You then have to get past all the Colgan hype, cheesy photos of Mr Colgan himself, irritating comments and the so-NOT-funny cartoons to get to the substance which is, I suppose, worth reading... however, this book is a MAJOR dissapointment after the "Optimum Sports Nutrition" which was a masterpiece.

Excellent - Just what I've come to expect from Dr Colgan.

This book carries on from the Colgan Institute's other publications. It gives an insight into what is really happening to the body while we spend those hours down the gym. Just the chapter on stretching changed a whole chunk of my training program, the results have been brilliant.

This guy should stick to nutrition
Having read his 5-star book on sports nutrition, I thought that this book would be similarly (a)scientific and (b) knowledgeable. However, my hopes for the former were dashed when he quoted Einstein's formula E=mc^2 as a formula for power (although this does approximate a correct formula for kinetic energy) and proceeded to use it in an almost meaningless fashion. He scores more points for (b) but it seems to me that his knowledge is 2nd hand here. There is no mention of complex training at all, and no real reasons are given for the details of the program he suggests. The chapter on mental preparation is laughable but at least it's at the end so that you don't bin the book before reading it.
