Customer Reviews:
Slower is FASTER
I already knew about 90% of what is written in this book, but it was the 10% I didnt know that makes the difference. the information in the book also made me realise what a terrible rider I had become, bad habbits creep in it takes you back to the basics of riding.

After reading this book once, my exit speed on a certain corner rose from 50+ MPH to 60+MPH even tho I felt I was going slower the speedo told the truth.

If you want to know where you are going wrong read it, its not a technical book and its written in pain English.
Nice pics, shame about the price
The author of this book is a well respected motorcycle journalist, and has already contributed to helping others with his article 'The pace' It was on the strength of this, that I purchased it. The actual information contained within is pertinant and useful, but can be found in greater detail in other books on the same subject. There are too, too many glossy photos, or padding; doubtless with the intent of bolstering the price.
A comprehensive and easy to read instruction manual
Having read a number of books in the quest for decent instruction on how to ride a motorbike and use the controls skillfully (including Roadcraft and Twist of the Wrist) this was by far the best. It gave full detail on not only how to enter and steer into bends but also how to exit them. Concise detail on braking and how to use the throttle in all situations was excellent. Above all, the book could be read in nice bite-sized chunks without the need to work one's way through any padding out of the text. I bought it to improve my road riding but I am sure track riders will find it equally as good. All the instruction and advice is appropriate for any type of motorcycle or style of rider.
Best of its kind?!
Aimed at people who wish to have fast (but safe) road riding fun. Loads of great information, ideas, 'drills' to practise/improve your day to day sportsbike riding.
Primary focus is on road riding, but there are many parallels to track/racing techniques, and a useful section about trackdays, including preparation etc.

Illustrations and graphics are up to date (Ducati 999,Rossi/RC411V, R1's ... etc) but as well as being very "aesthetically pleasing" they actually serve their purpose!

Nick's ideas seem to be a collection of the best bits from all the riding and research he has done as a successful racer in the US, and a long time biking journalist. Nick presents his ideas to you in a clear and interesting book ... for comparison, I have read all of Keith Code's dull, confusing and patronising writings ("Twist of the Wrist ..."), and would advise you to buy this book before considering any of Code's!
Enjoy ...

PS For more about Nick's ideas and style of writing, search the web under the author's name for articles he wrote called 'The Pace'.
