Up-to-date lesbian fiction that is refreshingingly different

Finally: a book of lesbian fiction that is by and for British dykes. If you're looking for raunchy lesbian porn, then this isn't the place to start, but if you're after a fascinating insight into lesbian life in the twenty-first century, then this anthology is certainly the one for you. Twenty-eight modern lesbian and bisexual women have contributed to the book - from the established (Stella Duffy, Jackie Kay) to some excellent first-timers. Black humour is a predominant theme, and many of the tales will have you laughing out loud. A few of the stories will make you wish you could un-read them: be wary of 'The Guinea Pig' if you're a mother... Each story approaches a different aspect of modern lesbian life - and it appears that the modern lesbian writer has thankfully abandonded the 'despair' that was such a feature of previous lesbian fiction. From parties to passports, from coming-out stories to the death of a partner, there is something here that every lesbian can relate to, and every one written with wit, intelligence and a fantastic turn of phrase. Enjoy.
