A must for kids in cars
|
|
This fabulous tape kept my child happy and entertained during a nightmare 10-hour car journey. In fact, we all enjoyed it. It is funny, beautifully characterised and true to the original books. Jane Horrocks is superb as Piglet, Judi Dench a wonderfully warm narrator and Eeyore couldn't possibly have any other voice than Geoffrey Palmer. To be picky, Stephen Fry wasn't quite Pooh-like enough for me, but a minor gripe in a great cassette. Essential material for any traffic jam.

A fabulous adaptation, knocks the Disney version in to touch

This is a wonderful version which, while leaving much to the imagination, is beautifully chararcterised by these talented actors and actresses. Fry and Horrocks are the best Pooh and Piglet possible. It is hilariously funny, and knocks the Disney version into touch for good. It is the only thing I let my kids listen to in the car!

Enchanting!

My children and I have heard several attempts at bringing these characters to life in audio form. Alan Bennett does it well (I prefer his Wind in the Willows) but my young audience tend to get lost with a single voice reading. This collection will keep them hooked for hours. Stephen Fry is... well, Stephen Fry - but his voice is an excellent Pooh. Jane Horrocks has my children squealing in laughter at her 'squealing' of Piglet. Geoffrey Palmer (TV: Butterflies, Reggie Perrin, As time goes by) is I'm afraid the ultimate Eeyore giving him an edge that suggests he could bite back one day - not just gloom and doom! With (Dame) Judie Dench linking it together those long car journeys will fly by peacefully for a change.

A must have for every young child (and adults too!)

Alan Bennett brings your imagination alive with his telling of A.A. Miilne classic tales. There is really no need for television as your mind paints the pictures as Alan gives each character a beautifuly crafted voice which just seems so right. I'm considering the purchase of another copy. As my current one is wearing rather thin now.... O for a Compact Disc version...
