Hard as nails     
Of all the books I've read on Liverpool FC, this gives the best insight into what it was like at Anfield; the players, like Smith, were hard, but the managers and staff were even harder bastards, if that was possible. You're left with the impression that Liverpool FC was run like an army, where only the best and toughest survived.
