I-Spy Car Numbers and Badges is a timely addition to the I-Spy range helping children and adults alike to understand the new car registrations used in the UK from Summer 2001. 18 pages are taken up with little icons of the critical 2 letter identifiers which tell you where a car was registered. Unfortunately, after this the book largely loses its way. Is it trying to explain all british car registrations, in which case examples of the previous identifying sequences would be helpful? Or is it trying to explain European alternatives in which case a more comprehensive listing would help. Instead I-Spy Car Numbers and Badges throws in the International ID plates, a page of French numer identifiers and a few selected brand badges and leaves the reader (user?) feeling that a fantastic opprtunity totell us where any European car has come from has been squandered.
