Real experiences

This book opened the door to the reality of adoption for me. Whilst I have gained a lot of information from professionals in the field, nothing has been more powerful than hearing what it is like "straight from the horses mouth". I liked the way the chapters are put together to provide the different perspectives, each article was short and easy to read and it included the stories where things hadn't always turned out so well. The book is easy to read in short bursts if necessary although I admit I couldn't put it down until I had read it from cover to cover.

The Good the Bad and the Ugly

This book has really helped us in our resolution as a couple to adopt. We have been considering it for a while and came across this book. It highlights the best bits and worst bits about adoption, it give real life insights as to how Adoptees, Adopters and birth families feel about the processes. It shares valuable hints as to how to overcome bonding problems, and how others went about it. We are looking forward to putting the book into practice real soon.

I found this book very helpful as an adopter.

I enjoyed the book primarily because it shows the pitfalls and difficulties of being an adoptive parent or adopted child in a balanced way, with some of the joys and successes added for leaven. I would recommend it to any prospective adoptive parent.
