English/Welsh Noir

Picked up by chance and really enjoyed it. There is a slight 'first novel' feel but it is very evocative of provincial city life, drinking and despair. If you like Philip Marlow you might like Robin Llewellyn.

This is one of those books that you can't put down until its finished.

I picked this book up on the spur of the moment, not having ever heard of the author before. I really didn't know what to expect, but after page two I was hooked and finished the book the next day.
The main character seems to stumble from one misfortune (and pub) to another causing you to want to follow his every move with some kind of morbid curiosity. I must warn you now that this book is pretty dark and shows some of the hidden underside of our society that I previously didnt consider existed.
Overall, highly recommended, I'll keep an eye out for any future books from this author.
