Scott Walker had no input hence the 4 stars. As a long time Walker Brother, and latterly Scott Walker fan I read this book with some trepidation. Scott Walker himself refused to be interviewed and makes no comment on the book (no surprise there though). If you were a starry eyed Scott Walker fan, some of it makes uncomfortable reading. However having lived through those times and BEEN to those concerts mentioned, I know alot is true, although how much is true of the more intimate revelations of the group and Walker himself is unknown. I would not know how much truth there was in the observations of those interviewed who worked with him or knew him personally, but as this is all we are likely to get about the man himself, I enjoyed the book for what it was which, for me, was a nostalgic journey through my school days. As we are very unlikely to get anything in book form from Scott Walker, I would recommend this book to all those who are fascinated by the man, but always bear in mind that Walker has not contributed to the book, neither did the writers have an opportunity to interview him in any way. Take it on face value and enjoy it.
