Customer Reviews:
Amazing
How does one begin to review this type of book. A book that had been purchased for my husband - looked like a 'man's book', but I got there first. I was at a loss for something to read when I picked up this book not really thinking it would be my type of book, BUT I WAS VERY WRONG!!!
In this book there was humour, pain, overcoming many hardships and the greatest of all unconditional love.

I read in the pages of the unconditional love of parents of a wayward son, then there was the unconditional love of parents when the wayward son got severly injured - the unconditional love of a father being there at the son's bedside continually, the unconditional love of the injured son, not falling into a pity party when his mum couldn't come to visit with him in the hospital due to her own limiting condition, the unconditional love of a mum not putting limits on her husband when he needed to be with their injured son, the unconditional love of a new wife for a husband caught up in a selfish life style and then again the unconditional love of that wife when her husband found his faith in God and the calling that came along with that. POWERFUL that is one way to explain this book.
The honesty and openness is so good because it helps the ordinary person to really identify in many ways with their own lifestyles and the truthfulness well - nothing beats the truth. Because there are no loop holes then for excuses.

A most challenging and inspirational emotional book that I would recommend to anyone.

The greatest thing in this book for me was that it shows us as sinners/wayward people that there is a way forward no matter how bad we are or in what condition we are in when we put our faith in the true and living God. That way leads to salvation and eternal life.

Thank you Haydn for your book.
Enthralling
An incredibly enthralling read. I am admittedly a slow steady reader; I tend to take a few weeks usually when reading a book I am truly enjoying. With this book, however, I was immediately drawn in and just couldn't put it down. I was trying to read as much of it as I could whenever I could (even during work), and had read it in 3 days. The honesty and openness with which Haydn recounts his life is truly moving and really makes you realise the immenseness of the events and how they affected and shaped him. This combined with the excellent manner in which the book is written; direct and simple without any unnecessary "filler", makes for an intimate and involving read. Haydn also wonderfully conveys the Grace and Mercy of the Lord Jesus and how much it has meant to him. A truly amazing read, not only for sports enthusiast but anyone looking for an inspirational and meaningful true story.
Excellent read
Once I started this book i couldnt put it down. It is written with such honesty that the writer draws you in and you feel like you have been part of his intriguing life. A wonderful story of hope and faith for everybody to reflect on. I would recommend this book for everyone to read regardless of your beliefs. It reaches out and speaks to all.
One of those books that grips you.
From the moment I picked up this book to the time finished it I was hooked. Haydn has written it in such a way that you almost feel like you know him personally. I have to admit though that there were a few times I had to put it down just to compose myself as it is very touching in parts and you feel his pain.
This book just goes to show that even the most wayward and wild people can change their ways and become better people. A lesson to us all I think and a book that I would thoroughly recommend to anyone and everyone.
To good to miss

`A night out with the Boys' should become a world best seller. It is written by Hayden Davies and recounts his personal experience of the horrendous life transition of a once ordinary cheeky, somewhat disrespectful lad from a Welsh valley, as he completes a metamorphosis into a remarkable and gifted human being with a message for us all.

The metamorphosis is brought about by the remarkable determination, bravery and courage undertaken by him to overcome the horrendous injuries he sustained when a night out with the boys, accompanied by alcohol and fast cars went terribly, terribly wrong. "Rarely is the pursuit of pleasure rewarded with such almost unbearable personal suffering and pain."

It is a truism that the book is quietly taking the world by storm and provoking much personal introspection and debate from within and without Evangelical and Christian circles. Readers are enticed, almost commanded to continue to the final page.

The `War Cry' published and distributed by the Salvation Army recently carried a centre page spread carrying an abridged version of Hayden's story. Indeed, the All Blacks have discussed this remarkable testimony amongst themselves, some plan to make a personal visit when they next return to this great Country of ours. There is however another reason that this book will circle the earth...

The storyline masterfully entwines the echoes of valley life for a likeable rogue `Hellbent' on getting his kicks and pleasures whenever and however life presented them, with due disregard to the consequences to others. It goes on to evidence and testify the heartfelt belief that this terrible series of events was pre-ordained to bring this remarkable man to know God personally. Why? To continue and further the Church and his message on earth? Not unexpectedly, he reinforces his faith with testimony.

So, who has succeeded in what with this book? Hayden has undoubtedly succeeded in writing what should become a best seller. Is it not the sole aim of writers to build a case so strong so as to encapsulate the reader or viewer into the lifeblood of the story, to become part of the fiction, to experience the roller coaster of emotion and the thrill of the chase and the pain of penalty? 10 out of 10 for Davies here then.

That leaves us with God. Davies has, I believe, succeeded in reinforcing the validity and implicit authenticity of his faith in the Lord, the Bible and the Gospels. If you believe in the supreme authenticity of the Bible then the same rules apply as you are encapsulated into the lifeblood of the story, you cannot help but to become part of the fact, and experience the roller coaster of emotion and thrill of the chase and the pain of the penalty. The stronger your belief, the more cold facts convince you of the fact that this man paid a price that he considers good value in bringing him to know God personally, and has a message for us all. 10 out of 10 for Davies again then?

On reflection, how many of us would be content with paying such a price to come to know God? How many of us would feel it was money well spent? Read the book and judge for yourself.
