This book is a must have for anyone interested in revival. It is not only interesting to read but it will also take you on a life-changing journey. However, in recommending this book I also offer a warning...there is a strong chance that on reading it, you will find yourself on your knees calling out to God to `revive us again'...which in my opinion can only be a good thing! Some books are informative and some books change lives - this does both.
Revival Fires and Awakenings will also become a useful point of reference to have in your library due to the breadth and detail of the contents. It not only deals with the historical revivals, but also recent and current moves of God and even includes prophecies for the future too! What more could you ask for?
I am an avid reader and would count this recent purchase as one of my top revival books and heartily recommend it to others. The extensive list of references and source books show the lengths that the author went to, to provide such a rich volume. The author's own passion for God and his heart-cry for revival are discovered carefully woven throughout the pages.
Keep an eye on this author as there are other revival books in the pipeline which I am sure will also be worthy of a place on all of our bookshelves too.

I used to be an armchair adventurer as far as revival goes, having read this book I am truly encouraged and converted to the belief that God has so much more for us, if we are willing to meet His conditions and pay the price.
This book tells it as it truly was, no hype or half truths, just the facts that are so refreshing, it leaves you with a hunger, a deep longing to connect with God and experience revival.
I pray to God I live to see it in my lifetime and in my city/country and I feel better prepared for it, having read this book. Having read a few dozen books on revivals, this one ranks amongst one of the best of them.

I was inspired by this revival book!
If you want someone to spend years researching all the great revivals and bring all the stories and quotes from the revivalists together, so that you can benefit from them, then this book is for you.
All the hard work has been done for us!
When I was a teenager, I always wanted to find one book that covered all the important points of the most important Christian revivals in our history, but it was so hard to find.
Loads of books give brief overviews of various revivals, but I wanted something that was brief and indepth; normally I could only find one or the other. But in this book, I found all the depth and all the great revivals all in one book!
The author researched for years to write this book, he also visited many places where the revivals broke out. In the book, he gives firsthand information from people he met who were used in revivals, and he explains the revival from a firsthand perspective by revealing how much more he learnt about the revival when he visited the sites where some of the revivals took place.
I read Mathew Backholer's other book about missions and watched his programmes on Christian TV, which airs around the world. So I know this guy had dedicated his life to bringing truth to people.
You'll be glad you got hold of this book and you'll probably recommend it to others.
