Great for encouraging children to read
|
I recommend these books for children aged 6-9. They are great at encouraging children to read. I initially bought the story tapes for my reluctant reader son. Both my children (boy 8, girl 7) loved the stories so much that soon they were both devouring the books. They are aimed at a younger audience than (beloved but less accessible) Just William. The typeface is large and easy to read, the stories short and fast paced, but most importantly, they are really funny and Horrid Henry appeals to the rebel in all of us.

Horrid stereotyping
|
A series of ghastly stereotypes; cheap, unintelligent writing. Parents are the enemy, girls are silly, being kind is laughed at and so on - why oh why can't we grow up and move forward in a positive way. This is literature for children at some of its worst.

sion Of The Reluctant Reader

A modern day Just William that kids will love (especially boys). A naughty yet appealing schoolboy who gets up to all sorts of mischief. Easy to read and hard to put down - great reading material for kids aged 5-8. This serves up 3 books in one - terrific value! My 8 year old son saw reading as a chore and would never have dreamed of picking up a book until he got his hands on Horrid Henry and now he just can't get enough.
