Useful basic guide

Because of their beauty and qualities, crystals have been used by mankind for many millennia. Nowadays they are used for decoration, in industry and in medicine. This book is a simple but beautifully illustrated guide to these gems. In the chapter Living With Crystals, the author gives advice on choosing, cleansing and programming your crystals. The subsequent chapters deal with the use of crystals for a variety of purposes and include lists of helpful crystals in every case. These purposes include healing: physical, emotional and mental and how to make gem remedies; protection: safeguarding the aura and how to make talismans and amulets; divination with crystal balls; the qualities of crystals in dispersing negative energy, inducing peace, vitality, grounding, intuition and abundance; astrology: the crystals of earth, water, air and fire; wisdom, including crystals of vision, insight and wisdom for use in meditation. Then follows the crystal directory that provides photographs, the source, appearance, properties and position in which to wear more than 150 stones. There are beautiful colour illustrations and photographs throughout the book and it concludes with an index and a list of suppliers of crystals and gem remedies. This book is a basic guide; for a more comprehensive treatment of crystals, I recommend this author's The Crystal Bible or Love Is In The Earth by Melody.

The illustrated guide to crystals

I bought this book on the back of someone elses review, so I hope to confirm that this book is great for anyone, like me, who is just starting out in crystals.
It has a great directory at the back which gives all the crystals sorted by their colour so you don't even have to know their names, it couldn't be simpler!
As for the rest of the book it has sections on all aspects of crystals such as healing, protection and chakras.
It also has plenty of pictures and diagrams on every page-PERFECT!

A general introduction for the use of crystals

As a complete beginner to crystals my main reason for purchasing this book was for the 'crystal directory' at the back. This has over thirty pages of crystals catagorized by colour showing pictures of each crystal alongside details of it's properties as well as providing suggestions on how to use them. The main content of the book introduces you to the various ways that the crystals can be used including love, healing, protection and divination. It also provides assistance on choosing, cleansing and programming crystals for use. An excellent book for the beginner covering many subjects without going into too much depth

An excellent guide, lots of information, great photographs

I was extremely pleased with this book- having ordered it blind! It covers many aspects of crystals, including healing, protection, divination and wisdom. Each chapter is well written and lavishly illustrated with pictures and photgrpahs of gemstones. There is a wonderful chapter entitled 'crystal directory' which lists crystals by their colour, going on to give more detailed information of over 120 different gemstones, which is invaluable to a beginner such as myself. I was initially fairly sceptical about crystal therapy, as I had never really found out an awful lot about it, but was pleasantly surprised by this book. It describes the origins of the Chakras, goes on to list common ailments that may be helped, and shows exactly how to do this, from charging the crystals, to placing them on the body for maximum effect. Whilst it doesn't go into huge detail on this topic, it certainly gives the beginner plenty to work on, so you can investigate further if it takes your interest. I have read several books about crystals recently, but have found this to be the best- this is a great price too. I hope this review is of use to someone out there!
