I thought this book was really rather atrocious-- the artwork was... shoddy, at best. If vampires are supposed to be so alluring, why did Lestat and Louis look so awful in this book? I did not like the choppy editing of the story, either. I mean, the editor has simplified the story, even casting Louis in a villianous light. For example, when he refuses to agree that body-swapping is a good idea with Lestat, he says in one part "Good...I'd like to see you weep" with a rather nasty expression on his face. It sets him up as a veritable villian, when in fact in the original book he apologised for speaking like that, explaining that his worry for Lestat caused him to. His anguished statement, "I love you," is cut out too. This may seem like a lot of griping over nothing, but it takes away from the sheer essence of the enduring love/hate relationship between Louis and Lestat. Coupled with the uninspired artwork, I found this to be a real disappointment, even though I am a huge fan of artwork and the Vampire Chronicles. Do yourself a favour. Buy the novel instead. And then draw your own comic. I bet it'll be far superior to...this.
