the book was good on humour, some things did make me laugh and its obvious his sence of humour and endless walter mitty stories would make him good company down in the local pub, but it comes across this man thinks hes bloody superman, he talks like hes ten men, sort of a cocky attiude comes across when he talks about his fights, hes like popeye never lost a fight yet!! and his advice on drug smuggling will no doubt help many a "druggie" get banged up abroad, but never mind no doubt these druggies have mr chances valuble experiance on how to act the big prison baron.

This bloke can't seem to decied weather he was forced into a life of international drug dealing by unscrpuplous poeple who tricked him into it when he was most in need, or he is the hardest man on the planet who knows all the big gangsters and could kill them all with a look. I'm no expert but I know a bit and his use of army slang does not quite ring true and it would be extreamly generous to say that his understanding of Japanese Martial Philosophy was, at best shakey. His constant flash backs to pointless times of his life and his moaning that once he gets out he'll do right by his wife and family bring to mind someone who has read 'Chopper', to many times. All in all, if this is all true, which I dought, then the author still just comes across as a very unpleasnt, idiotic, drug dealer.

Chance tells a hard tale about the harshness of Spanish prisons. He also explains much about the downside of smuggling and the terrible price of failure. This book is a deterrant against drug smuggling, though he does bang on a bit about how to do it. This in itself is interesting reading.
However, it is a terrific adventure both in and out of prison and his use of the martial arts provides powerful reading and adds value to the read.
The story was penned in a Spanish prison where he experienced horrendous acts of violence, so the anti-Spanish sentiment is not surprising.
If you are a supporter of political correctness, this is not for you. Understandably, he is unkind to prison officers and customs officers, but who is? If you like a gritty read, this is for you.

This book read like watching an episode of Batman with lot's pow's! and Biff's! I'm not that interested in hearing about how to asphyxiate my foe so if you want to read a real banged up abroad story try The Damage done this is much more interesting whithout the Die Hard background story.
