Customer Reviews:
TO USE THE MANS WORDS..FANFUC&INGTASTIC
WELL. I dont know what 2 of these guys were reading but I found it a brilliant read. Full of soul and sadness. I really couldnt put it down. I have to say that the bloke who gave this one star must be a weirdo or have a jealous streak in him..may just be a wanabe himself who knows. The thing is that this is not really a violent story, it has a very serious side to it and one that woke me up to the effects of cultural of racial prejudice.
This book seems to me to be more about why he did what he did rather than an ego trip as suggested in one review. The guy clearly states that he didnt know any gangsters..he states that he wasnt the best figther in the world and got beaten a lot ofthe time, how on earth is that an ego boost..more like facing his ghosts I say. ANYWAY. for me it was a really good read, gripped me all through and gave me an insight into a culture I could never get to grips with.
My views on Billy Cribb...I think he was a really nice bloke deep down with a genuine heart for people...his horrid side ? well life just makes you taht way sometimes.
what was the point of this book again?
This is a really horrible book. The other 1 star review pretty much says it all. What starts out as something that might sound an interesting insight into the 'underworld' of street fighting, turns into just chapter after chapter of 'and then this happened..and then this..and then this...' it's ultimately empty, souless and dull.

Indeed about half way through the book the author decides to head to the continent from the Uk using the Ferries. Of course there is a 'fight' scheduled on the ferry itself, but whereas the first part of the book was at least interesting in how each fight panned out or how each fight was 'organized', the author seems to have lost interest the title of the book, skims over the encounters on the ferry in two sentences and then we find ourself somewhere in spain where he is hired as some kind of body guard/heavy. Then you realise this he really is the stereotypical 'short angry violent' man. It stops being a book about street fighting and turns into a hateful, hurtful waste of my time. If reading about the violent doings of one human being to another is your thing, then get it, but otherwise don't bother.

This is one of those books that really catches your attention from the off and I finished it in a few days. It is by no means a literary classic but it is still an enjoyable read as Billy's life has certainly been eventful to say the least.I do suspect that the truth has been "tweaked" if not stretched in some parts of the book but dont let that put you off.

I was glad to find that the book was not as blood thursty as the front cover suggested as I dont really go for books which are needlessly violent. In the end I could'nt help but like Billy Cribb as despite his faults he does come across as an nice guy who just happened to live in the very nasty world of extreme fighting
A LAMB IN LION'S CLOTHING
Sorry, but am I the only one to see fit to put this book down as an overkill of the male ego? This book fails to impress for all the right reasons! I know a lot of people will be open-mouthed at this negative review, I do not apologise for the truth.

After reading it, I nearly laughed my back off at how ludicrous it was in the claims made within. Remember, this man is only about five-and-a-half feet tall and not very heavy, look at the book cover.

The photographs within do not impress me one bit, maybe I am too long in the tooth for such books, but, please, do not buy it if you want a bare fisted ride to the next hardman book.

That's all I will say, anything else would not be printable!

this book ranks amoung the greats, when you read it you are gripped, if you are forced to stop reading it you cant stop thinking about it until you pick it up again, it is an education to read it, the only reason i give it 4 stars and not 5 stars is that i did n't want it to end, hey what the hell i'l change it. please Mr Cribb write some more.
