A stroke of genius!

I had to study this play for my A-Level French and never thought I would like it so much until I read the English translation. It is, as I said, a stroke of genius and I highly recommend this to anyone interested in French history or just theater studies in general. Having suffered at the hands of the French judiciary, the playwright Beaumarchais uses witty, satirical jibes to denounce the judicial system in the play as well as make many important observations about themes such as politics, love, marriage and the role between servants and masters. The Drama Classics translation stays true to the original French text and the plot intricacies and brilliant characterization will make this play an enjoyable read.
