Customer Reviews:
Getting Pregnant
I was very disappointed with this book. The author seemed to jump from subject to subject without much coherency.

The book only skimmed through each subject, and it didn't even really cover many topics. There was hardly any pictures and diagrams. And what diagram it had was very difficult to understand.

I bought a Zita West book together with this one, and it just does not compare to Zita's book.

Not for the 30 something
As a 30 some thing woman trying for a first child I bought this book to help. If you are in your 20's then you'll be a star pupil - if you in your 30's and 40's then it's all doom and gloom. I didn't find the tone supportive, more "you should have done it earlier" - which is not what I wanted to pay for.
On the whole I found it pessimistic and depressing (yes we know fertility lessens as we get older - perhaps that's why we bought the book in the first place?). I've found much better books that deal with the issues of fertility and infertility much more effectively and sensitively.
don't bother
Getting Pregnant: How to Improve Your Chances of a Healthy Conception resembles a brochure much more than a book. It is a brief overview and doesn't delve into any topic at all. I think most women are already familiar with the information presented simply by common sense. The writing is fine, easily understood, and so on. The price isn't justified by the content which is, simply put, lacking.
This is the exact book I was looking for.
I'm a mom of one child, and was trying to have a second one for a long time with no hope, all Drs. agreed that both me and my husband are perfect, so I thought that there should be a missing link and nobody realize or focus it, so I started buying this type of books.
I found this marvelous book, very easy and simple to understand, also it's summarized in a perfect way that hit to the point I do recommend any woman who likes a quick short but useful information in the pregnancy field to read this book, and write there comments.
Well presented and very useful book
My husband and I decided that we wanted to try for a baby and I bought this book to 'get informed' and 'prepare'.

I found it a nice and simple book, with the section on timing VERY useful. My one criticism is that I would have liked a little more information on some subjects such as Luteinizing Hormone Kits as a way of predicting ovulation. These LH Kits were recommended to me by a friend, and I would swear by them.

Happy ending is that we got pregnant the first month of trying. This was a bit of a surprise as I was expecting it to take anything between 3 months and a year plus. I am convinced that this is largely down to timing and to the prep I did (e.g. giving up alcohol).

I would recommend this book.
