Customer Reviews:
So-So
Good addition to the bookshelf of Elvis fans, but as much as Elvis was a true legend, the phenomena has been a little over-done. This book does, however, offer a slightly different view on life with Elvis.

How To Keep Your Man: And Keep Him For Good

Real Life Dramas - Volume One: 1

me and a guy named elvis;my lifelong friendship with elvis presley
best book i have read about elvis.jerry told things about elvis and himself which were personal and those are the things we want to know it felt as if all his wonderfull work(songs)were captured in this book along with all of their family and friends what an adventure.elvis was an amazing man thats why i am a fan but jerry was not just his employer but as the book says lifelong friend, like normal people they had their ups and downs.well done jerry couldent put the book down
Nice read
Nothing new but ok for a light read. The book is written from a friends perception of how he remembers past history, no nastiness or bitterness, enjoyable reading.
One big yawnfest
I really wanted to like this book. I've read many Elvis tomes over the years and Jerry Schilling always comes across as one of the more intelligent of the Memphis Mafia. But oh dear. This is a rigid bore. Nothing new at all. It's all been said before. No new pictures, no new stories, nothing. But then, all that's going to be said about Elvis has been said in the 30 years since his death.

Jerry paints a rosy picture. Okay, he hints at Elvis's drug-taking over the years but only just. I think Jerry waited too long to tell his story and it shows. Jerry should have written more about himself; about his time with the Beach Boys and Billy Joel (which is only just hinted at in this book).

Sorry Jerry, this was definitely not worth waiting for. A bore to the core.
Fantastic, Enlightening Read!
This is one of the best books I have ever read on Elvis. It is great to have a 'fly on the wall' view of life with Elvis by someone who was actually there and who accompanied him on his journey. It is better still to read something that isn't sensationalised in order to generate sales. So many books have been written by people who never met Elvis and who make assumptions as to his thoughts and feelings whereas Jerry Schilling gives a personal view of Elvis and the amazing life he led. A truly great read!
