Overall decent

This was my third CCNP exam, passed first time. I found this a little harder or perhaps I'm tired of the studying now?! It was very good in some sections, but I found some of the IPSec stuff a little bit long winded and boring and it could have been a bit clearer to help with the exam.

Excellent book, very readable.

I'm not using this to exam cram but I am surprised if questions on the exam are not covered in this book as it's the official guide.
I really like this book. It's extremely well written and is more readable than some of the other Cisco books. Cisco books are always more reliable and detailed but are sometimes too dull but not in this case.
It covers more than is needed for the exam compared to Exam Cram type books and the MPLS section is the best I've come across at this level. I tried Rick Gallaher's MPLS Training Guide to get more MPLS detail and found it completely useless!
The IPsec and VPN material covers a lot of ground and needs a couple of readings as it is complex with the amount of protocols involved. I've seen a simpler explanation of Diffie Helman so it could have done better to make it clearer. I was disappointed that the Easy VPN didn't give the CLI commands, only GUI. DSL sections are also very good.

Not a complete text to pass the ISCW exam
|
A readable text in well laid out concise sections although a little verbose in parts. However, this text alone will not facilitate a ISCW exam pass.
I acquired this book to allow an index look up on particular topics rather than wading through 2 volumes of unindexed Cisco course notes.
Without giving the game away there are key areas in the remote worker, IPSec VPN and MPLS sections missing from the book to fully prepare you for the exam.
