Scratch the Surface

Bold, ambitious and timely book. Mr. Satloff efforts to uncover the arab Oskar schindler is thoroughly commendable however somewhat less than satisfactory for me. The book however reads like a personal travelogue with his views and opinions coming to the fore, and the facts merely form the background to his journey. Mr. Satloff comes across as very much tied to the jewish-israeli point of view rather than an impassioned analyst of both sides of the story. This book speaks well to western conservatives who consider themselves liberals.
