Disappointing

I'm afraid I found this book very disappointing.
As someone has already mentioned, the target market for this book will only aspire to the models and locations Mr Gomez shoots in. There are no diagrams of set-ups, although every image is accompanied by details of how wonderfully expensive his equipment is, and in many cases reads like a catalogue for various lighting manufacturers.
In some places it's an interesting read, but it makes the fundamental mistake of either being too simple for some, but too complicated for others.
I should also point out that, in my opinion, the best images in the book were not even taken by the author, but are attributed to others.

A little misleading

I have little experience of photography in general, so getting into glamour has been a new challenge for me. "Garage Glamour" immediately sounds like it's intended audience are those like me, new, with little or no prior investments made and in need of the basics to be covered quickly.
And Rolando doesn't do a bad job with the book which broadly covers this wide-ranging subject. However, this is no "Glamour for Dummies" title either - there's plenty of paragraphs of talk, but no tutorials or helpful "Tips" boxes. Not that you would want to turn up to a studio and intently follow a book while talking to your model and fumbling with your camera...
However, the only "examples" given are mainly of top-quality shoots featuing Playboy models. Where is the "Garage Glamour" in that? Each picture is usually captioned with the expensive equipment used and in some cases includes the assistants holding reflector dishes and even ringflash battery packs above the infinity pools in exotic locations. Totally inappropriate for the readership. Where the suggested lighting setups with figure diagrams were I don't know. Some posing tips are given, but not an awful lot. His pages on lens selection cover tight angles where 100mm+ are recommended (you'll need a large studio), with one paragraph on wide-angle shoots where background is important. I'm shooting in a small studio where wide angle is a necessity.
He's even got Playboy models posing against the beautiful marble interiors of his home. A setting only the very privileged can associate with.
The book's not bad, but the examples are way off the mark. Don't buy this if you're expecting tutorials.
