A great overview of an extraordinary life, but........

Any book by George Schaller is a must buy for any self respecting lover of wildlife - be they professional or amateur. For those of us who have been inspired by the Schaller classics like "Stones of Silence" and "Golden shadows, flying hooves" this new book was long awaited. It provides a flying overview of this famour biologist's life. The amazing thing is just how much George Scahaller has managed to fit into his three score years and ten. It is a real inspiration to know that this type of life is still possible in the 21st century - that the days of exploration did not end with Darwin. However, the book is a collection of short essays, written during the last 40+ years. As such it does not provide much scope for the depth, insights and reflections that we have come to expect.
