Poetic and powerful, a true chapter in the Freeman Saga.

After the death of Tohgoku Oshu in Crying Freeman-A Taste of Revenge, Freeman was obligated to the giant wrestler's last request, that was to take his family into his own and protect them.(Tohgoku Oshu was a giant wrestler that was hired by The Bear Clan to fight Freeman, he looked a little like Arnold Schazenger.) Taking on Oshu's request Freeman visits the man's wife and finds that she is being harassed by a wealthy business man that wants her to be his wife. Defying this and saving Oshu's wife from the business man Freeman becomes the target of professional assassin Choko Tateoka-The Minstral of the Under World. Choko piosons Oshu's son and challenges Freeman to a duel in order to get the antidote and save the boy, after defeating him Freeman hunts down the business man and kills him. In the last chapters of Journey To Freedom, Yo Hinomura is hunting down a memeber of a Tokyo Yakuza ring who hires an female Eskimo assassin to Kill Freeman. defeating the assassin Freeman goes after the men that hired her and planned to kill him. I thought that this was by far the best chapter in the Crying Freeman saga, both chapters of Journey to Freedom, on his own for most of the time this chapter takes the reader back to the time of Portrait of Killer when Freeman was relatively alone and did not have Ivory Fan or Dark Eyes with him. Journey to Freedom, part one, delivers a good story with classic characters and opponents for Freeman, the best of which is the Minstral of the Under World, The chapter also delivers a riviting martial arts duel between Freeman and Choko that is heart beating and breathless. This instalment of Crying Freeman is action packed and should not be missed by fans of the graphic novels.
