Amusing and witty portraits by famed artist.

Thierry Poncelet is a master craftsman who is obviously highly skilled at what he does. The portraits he creates - using original antique paintings of people - transformed into the most amusing and appropriate dog somehow look completely natural. The head never looks stuck on and always becomes part of the original painting - the expressions he creates on the new heads is always accurate and looks as though it was meant to be - you cannot tell where the new painting starts as it melds perfectly with the old - you can also see his original works at the Stephanie Hoppen Gallery in Walton Street, London - seeing in the flesh makes the book even more amusing. The text of Bruce McCall is also perfect - capturing the personality of the paintings exactly. Well worth a look.
