Ex Submariner
|
As an ex submariner serving on nuclear submarines at the same time as Chas, I really enjoyed the way that all aspects of a submariners life were put together.
I have lent this book to a lot of 'civilian' friends of mine so that they can try to understand why I am like I am.
Now they know!

Submariners do it deeper!

Buy this and the DVD of the seventies TV series 'Sailor' and you will know why we should be proud of the RN! Never mind all the recent shennanigans in the Gulf, this is the way the RN really was and should be still! Thank god the submarine service still acts the same at sea and alongside! Chas spins a good dit and as a warts and all story of life in boats it cant be bettered. Buy it. Mac

Why should Britain Tremble - a submariners tale.

Without a doubt one of the funniest naval humour books I have ever read.
Equal to Send Down a Dove, and the Falklands Dont Cry for me Sargean Major.
Could not put it down once started. As an ex submariner I appreciated the humour more than most.

Highly recommend it.

This book was recommended to me by a work mate who is an ex serviceman. Was not sure if it would be my cup of tea as i have no military background, but on reading it, was very surprised.
The author, Chas Cooke, gives a warts and all account of life as a submariner. Hugely funny (especially the scooters in Corfu, and the football match) but also quite thought provoking. It highlights the strain a military life can put on the families of service personnel and how unforgiving and inflexible the MOD can be. Mrs Cooke, you deserve a medal yourself.
Whether you read it in one go or read it on the bog, you'll like this a lot.
