Customer Reviews:
A compelling argument
Before reading this book I had the view that it would be one side of the argument and blaming lab errors is a pretty weak way to try and "get off" a positive drugs charge. I did, however, approach this book with an open mind.

It provides some great background about his life & career as a professional cyclist. I think he rather labours on the point "it's not unusual for a cyclist to have a really bad day and then the following day have a great day", but it's obvious why.

When it comes to the specifics of the case, a solid argument is presented as to why he is not guilty. I am quite amazed at the incompetency of a lab testing for the biggest annual sporting event in the world.

I hope Floyd receives justice in the near future and can return to the Peleton to defend his title.
Quite revealing indeed. Well worth the read. Go Floyd!
This book is an easy read and a real eye-opener (assuming you believe its truthfulness) about the events surrounding Landis' 2006 Tour de France victory and subsequent positive drugs test. I say victory deliberately; despite the fact that it seems now he has been stripped of it, because after reading the book I think I can believe what he says. The prosecuting case appears to be quite weak and the drug testing process flawed. I know, that's what all the drugs cheats say right? But when you read a bit about his background and discover his character and attitude to training (he put in 24000 miles in one year!), you feel less and less like this is a man who would resort to drugs. Plus, how can you attribute his 'superhuman' performance on stage 17 to testosterone? Amphetamines maybe, but I don't think testosterone works like that.

Anyway, Landis also recalls some interesting snippets of information about his time riding with Lance Armstrong on the USPS team, which I think reveal quite a lot about Armstrong's character.

In the last couple of chapters Landis is basically summarising why he's not a cheat, and it does get a little tedious at times but I think it's only necessary to get his point across. Despite that, I think all cycling fans should read it.
He must think we are idiots
This book is an interesting read and should be of interest to anyone who is interested in drugs in sport. Some of the background detail is good and shows up some of the politics involved in the sport. However, the basic premise is that he never cheated, and here we are delving into a fantasy land that most drug cheats seem to live. If resent events re other 'innocent' and 'victimised' athletes are to show anything then we should believe the evidence more often than cries of innocent, no matter how well written.
Go Floyd!
I found this book extremely interesting, it gives the back story to who Floyd is, his work ethic and how he has been caught in a biased and unfair system that penalises cyclists on less than certain evidence. It is an easy read but also a real shock to see the how the UCI behave towards cyclists. I never believed he had used testosterone, and I am even more convinced of that now.
Read this book if you want to understand more about the life of a professional cyclist.
must book for a cycling fan
interesting book about Floyd Landis, his career and recent fight against doping authorities. Explanations of the case towards the end are somewhat boring (I believe in his innocence anyway) but everything up to that is extremely interest. His determination should be inspiration to everyone.
