Customer Reviews:
lacking certain something!
two short stories one set in ireland complete with crumbling castle and druids, the other in sweden. in stag party it is written from the guy dane's point of view which i have no come across before. in norse truly brynna must save a viking long boat crew from za curse and they can go to valhalla. ok this isnt real life so when the previous reviewers have said that the women characters accept that there are gods and ghosts etc in the world was kinda harsh, this is FICTION!!! if you are new to katie macalister, this may not be the best one to start with. if you do enjoy this check out charlaine harris's sokie stackhouse series, still on the supernatural theme but with vamps, werewolves and such like!!!
Silly
" STAG PARTY

Dane Hearne also known as the Irish fertility god Cernunnos - must choose a bride quickly. His long time goddess has run off with a salsa dancer, and Dane must be married by Beltane, just a week away or become a mortal - and die. When he meets American travel writer Megan St. Clair, he knows he's found his soul mate. But while Dane is a sexy Irish hunk with his fair share of blarney, can he convince Megan to marry him in just one week ?

NORSE TRULY

Alrik Sigurdsson is cursed to sail his Viking ship along the same stretch of Scandinavian coastline forever. So when lovely American Brynna Lund skides her car off the road into the ocean, he and his men are happy for the diversions of recruting her. Then Alrik discovered that Brynna is the only woman who can break the curse. Is it any wonder that he's determined to keep her .... forever? "

I wish to be begin by saying that I am a BIG fan of Katie MacAlister's paranormal & dragon series. But unfortunately this is the second book I read that disappoints me. It is quite difficult for me to imagine that it is the same author that has written this book and the ones I fell in love with.
This book consists of two stories "Stag Party" and "Norse Truly". The first one is nothing but silly. The story is weak and quite pointless really. The all-mighty Dane leaves an impression of a spineless, clueless and weak "god". There is nothing more to the story than Dane stalking Megan, yet another character lacking personality.
The second story was a bit better. At least there was a story to follow. However the character of Alrik was yet again created to be a clueless oaf.
And as the reader before me mentioned, the heroines are a little too accepting of the fact that they are surrounded with Gods and Viking ghosts !
All in all, the book is a very light and occasionally funny read. However for those who are familiar with Katie's other works mentioned above, this book won't be as exciting.
OK but . . .
2 shorter stories, one set in Ireland, the other in Sweden (and Florida). Some real laugh out loud moments in both stories. The first one had me puzzled at times, it was the "hero" narrating, which certainly gave a different slant. The second had me racking my brains to remember Norse mythology - but it was all explained so no worries there. What always amazes me in Katie MacAlister books is the "heroine's" acceptance of "other worlds". Still, another good read.
