Interesting and well researched

Although this isn't a particlarly big book, there is a lot to learn here about Winston Churchill the leader.I did find it hard at times to grasp all of the information at hand but there is no doubt that plenty of research has been done about Churchill's leadership during World War 2 and it is a credit to the author.
This is not the best book I have read on the great man. That honour belongs to the excellent biography by Dominique Enwright. But this is another insight into one of the great British characters of the 20th century and it is an admirable effort.

This book was EXTREMELY useful, as I was writing an extended essay on Winston Churchill as a war leader. The book explained everything that I needed for my essay. It highlights the personal and political sides to Winston Churchill, as well as everything that was a key part of his leadership. I would recommend this book for anyone interested in Churchill's war leadership.

A fascinating read

This book succinctly and brilliantly encapsulates Churchill's qualities as a wartime leader and shows Martin Gilbert's writing at its best. Ranging across the influence of Churchill's long experience on his war leadership, his daily pattern of work, his personal example and his relationships with those under his command, this is a fascinating survey, first given by Gilbert in the White House.
