A comprehensive, well-written guide for genealogists
|
|
A well-written and well laid-out guide to research into Polish-Jewish family history. There are chapters on the various centrally-held archives, on local registration offices, and on the archives at Auschwitz and Majdanek; also illustrated individual entries for major Polish towns, and copious bibliographies. Particularly valuable are the comprehensive inventories of archives held for each town, cross-referenced by location of repository. Finally, a key feature of the book is the large number of beautifully-reproduced historic photographs of people and places which appear throughout. Ms Weiner and her co-authors have produced a valuable reference source for serious researchers.
