Attempts to apply the solutions approach to team situations.
|
I found this book not particularly useful. The author has taken the framework set out in the excellent book below and tried to develop it further.
* The solutions focus- making coaching and change simple. [see my other reviews]
This has not been achieved in terms of either new insights or a convincing case for the use of his approach, by the reader.
One concern is the complete lack of any reference to the vast range of literature and research that exists on effective team development written in the last 20-30 years. Also virtually nothing is provided on change management and handling transitions. The field of project management is not covered either in terms of the insights that are available on using teams effectively.
The use of questions is stated by the author as central to his approach, this aspect of the book is covered in a superficial way. A much better buy is:
* Leading with questions - how leaders find the right solutions by knowing what to ask. [see my other reviews]
In summary the book would have gained perhaps by being written by 2-3 people with a wider range of experience/expertise, in this important subject. A missed opportunity!
