Customer Reviews:
Poor Reflection Of Current Prices
As a dealer in mostly Silver Age comics, I would stand to lose a lot of money using this guide compared with Overstreet Guide. Little work and thought has gone into this book with only Near Mint prices quoted. To work out lower grades I have to sit with a calculator and add a seriously random multiplication to even come near Overstreet Prices.

Even more of a joke is the section on grading, although in the books defence this isn't what the book is about.

Save your pennies a little more and get the excellent Overstreet Guide.
Poor , poor comic book guide
I found this guide to be the poorest guide I have ever seen. I have a number of guides (including some excellent out of print guides) which are all far better than this guide. For an up to date guide the Overstreet guide is far superior.

I feel I've purchased an over the top "listing of comics". I could have typed number 1 to 300 on a spreadsheet and used this to control the comics I have instead of this book.

Don't waste your money on this guide and purchase any other comic guide. (I'm sure it will be better than this one).
total waste of time
Just about the worst guide of its kind I've come across in 15 years of collecting.

For starters, it's the size of a phone directory - as thick as Overstreet but twice the width and height. Which makes it plain unwieldy. And it's hard to work out why. There is far less listing information than Overstreet and far fewer ads. Yet somehow the book is much larger than any other price guide I've ever seen. The poor paper quality probably doesn't help.

Second problem - and perhaps the worst - is that it only provides the NM/Mint 9.4 price. If you want to work out the price for more common grades you have to do your own mental calculation. The only help you get is advice like "Very Fine grade = 4/5ths". Try working out 4/5th of $76 in a hurry while calculating your bid on ebay!

Thirdly, their pricing is way out of line with Overstreet. Occasional variation I'd expect but it's hard to see how they can be pricing so differently across the board. Since most people use Overstreet as their guide, the prices in this book can only put you at a disadvantage when calculating what you want to pay or charge for a comic.

Avoid this guide at all costs and don't waste your money. Overstreet may have its faults. But this book really puts them in perspective.
