Customer Reviews:
A wonderfull Teacher of a book!
As a shamanic practitioner life can sometimes be solitary and you dont always have people you can bounce ideas off. There is not always someone you can talk to and say "Has this ever happened to you" or "Do you know what this means?". This book has answered so many of those questions for me and brought areas of my understanding on in leaps and bounds.

It is fascinating reading how the author ends up going through his own initiation and placed on the path of shamanism. From what started as a journey researching the uses of Ayauscha and its possibilities becomes a very personal journey. His accounts of Machu Picchu are amazing and at times startling.

Im a lover of Carlos Castaneda but this guy takes things to a more understandable level and as a result the books messege becomes ever more poignant.

Much Love!
A Must-Read for anyone searching for inner knowledge.
I found this book very informative and one of those books that I couldn't put down (as opposed to couldn't pick back up!) and read it cover to cover in a matter of a week.

I found the story very believable and, although it could be construed as someone's acid-trip, based in reality. As a student of the arts, I must commend Alberto on the way he retold a story that is nearly impossible to relate.

I have recommended this text, and The Island of the Sun, to many people interested in seeking Universal Energy outside the bounds of modern religion.

We owe it to Mother Earth and Father Sun to continue the work of the Inca.

Thank you.

this book is a sham
There is nothing in this book to help the serious student of shamanism, indigenous peoples, or journeying to learn about the sacred art of shamanic travel. The badly written text reads like a teenager's journal of his sole acid-drop. Most people buying this book will feel they have been robbed.
A step toward understanding S.A. culture through shaman trek
This journey by a man educated in the Western sciences adds credibility for the North American reader. We want to have a logical reference into the shaman journey and it's provided in this book. Once into the adventure, the author opens the pages to multi-layer levels of reality, believable.
Poetic, surreal and a wonderful journey
For anyone interested in central or south american beliefs or mysticism, this book will be an absolutely wonderful read. As with any book of this nature, the first question is: how authentic is this person? Can we believe what they have written about, or is it a work of fiction? The only way that I've been able to pass that judgement is simply through the feeling of whether the prose evokes authenticity. This book (and their other book, Island of the Sun) create images which are a wonder to experience, and take you on a journey which sweeps you right into the author's shoes. I enjoyed every minute of the book and have recommended it to many folks.
