This is one of the funniest collections of anecdotes I have read in years. My edition is a slightly older edition but I'm sure it is all in there. For those who do not know the Yiddish phrases and quips, there is an excellent glossary at the back of the book. Who knows, you might even learn something. The book itself covers all sorts of things from the essentials of Jewish traditions, festivals and ceremonies aswell as universal everyday experinces as told through the stories the author has pain-stakingly collected. I won't even begin to try and tell you about some of the anecdotes. I could not possibly relay them with the same flair as the good Doctor or his sources. Suffice it to say, this is a book that everyone should have on their shelf, ready to pluck off when you want a laugh. You'll soon learn that the Jewish people have an affinity for seeing the humour in all aspects of their lives, no matter how seriously they are meant to take it. Perhaps we could all do with a bit of this, no matter what religion or beliefs we hold. An hilarious read full of wit and humility.
