Old-fashioned

The earliest date shown for copyright in this book is 1958, and much of the book, and all the illustrations, look as though they come from fifty years ago. I don't think anyone would want to start frame-making with this book; a lot of the content is quite muddled and very confusing. There have to be better guides out there. This reader doubts very much if there are any significantly worse.

Lacks a little in the depth department

The book covers many elements of designing and building picture frames (covering all sizes). I purchased this because my father-in-law has been producing frames for many a long year and I wanted to show him a couple of things! I'll have to wait and see what comes up. Whilst the book is informative it doesn't cover every aspect of picture framing. What I have learnt from my F-I-L has helped me appreciate where the gaps are and to fill in these blanks for myself. This is not a book for novices or for people wanting to frame a couple of pictures only. However there is enough new stuff to help me achieve my overall aim!
