Customer Reviews:
excellent complimentary reading
There are TWO major problems with 90% of poker books out there ... or thhere are from my viewpoint. They all seem to address real life Casino play and expect those rules to be ported to Online play (they don't) and secondly they just re-hash the basics of what to bet, when to bet, pot odds, implied odds etc. etc. Sometimes the books get padded with endless pages of stats or stories but whatever, after reading a dozen books now I rarely pick up anything that deals with ancillary aspects of the game. This book address all of that. It discuss the online game, your mood, multi-table playing, concentration spans, PC outages, behaviour, other peoples behaviour, ADD-ONS (Yes there are a few and I bought one and it helps loads)for the software, issues around Bots (I'm amazed at the sheer volume of online poker players that DON'T relaise that there are bots being used) Colussion ( You don't think there are teams playing together using MSN to discuss their hands and how to suck you in ?) etc. etc. The book is an excellent and helpful insight to Online poker. I'm now going to type something I NEVER thought I would type. The book, it's recommendation for software add-ons, paid for themselves on my very first night. The add-on I bought on the books recommendation indicated a clear fish/new player who provided several good pots which more than covered the cost of the book and software. My first poker book paid for itself in terms of cards to play and what to toss. This one did itself proud too. Well written, interesting and informative. You'll recognise yourself easily on many of the 'problem' pages and how to deal with them. If you want a book teaching you how to play poker...this isn't it. If you want a book to help you play in the online environment then this is the best I've come across so far. 5 Stars.
Complete Crap!
I have read many poker books out of interest, and found something either enjoyable or useful in all but this one. This book "Crushing the Internet Game" has to be the worst read I've ever had, it is "padded out with irrelevant facts" like how to deal with a plumbing leak that could get into your household wiring or a power cut, preventing you from playing online poker...etc...etc.... I only gave it 1 star as there is no lower rating....If you want a few recommendations, try Doyle Brunson's Super System 1 & 2, Sam Fahar on omaha, Harrington Vol 1, 2 & 3, Scott Fishcman online ace, Kill Phil & Kill everyone, just a few but, all good reads if you like poker & want to up your game.
Pays for its self.
This book is one to buy. I have now finished reading this book and it has completely paid for itself. and i have now just ordered another book by this author.
This book is not about how to learn poker
Killer Poker Online

Anyone thinking about buying this book needs to understand that it's not a book about how to play poker. If that's what you're looking for, then this author has also produced "Killer Poker" (although I have never read it). The aim of this book is to teach people who already play poker in a B&M environment (whether in home games or in public card rooms) how to adapt to the internet play. I read the book after I'd already been playing on the net for a while and found that it did chrystalize what I was beginning to feel instinctively. Interestingly, where I found this book useful was when I started to want to make the transition from the Internet to the B&M world. Because the author highlights the differences between the two forms of the game very clearly, it gave me a springboard to think about the adjustments I needed to make. So, I think it works both ways. The author's style is not for everyone (it's a bit like the Dummies' style), but overall, I think it is worthwhile for players looking to make a transition one way or the other between B&M and the Internet. I'm getting rid of it essentially because A I've moved on and B, I'm short of storage space.
Nice title, shame about the content
Having read a few books on Poker i was looking for something dedicated to the online game. To be honest i judged the book by its cover, especially the title "Crushing the internet game". Alarm bells started ringing when about 3 pages in he basically states if your motivation for playing online poker is making money you will be wasting your time. So much for 'Crushing the internet game'!?! This book has NO tips on which hands to play or when to fold, raise, call etc. The only decent advice given is to 'keep a book' on players you meet online so you know their playing habits/styles. I've just told you that in 1 sentence, this guy goes on about it for 274 pages!! This book lacks any depth, to quote the author, if you scratch the surface all you find is more surface. Lazy, shoddy work. Must have taken 1 week to write.
