slightly misleading title

The title of this book is slightly misleading since the author admits that some of the films have no censorship histories. It also has to be said that some of the films are so obscure that they can only be known to the author and a couple of film historians. As this film is set out alphabetically and not in chronological order there is no sense of the movements to and fro in censorship.however despite these critiscisms it has to be said that this is an engrossing book full of censorious state and city officials doing their best to ensure that the general public do not get to see films which give an honest and open account of life. The action of the Catholic Church have to be read to be believed.I suppose it is all about one word.Control.An extremely absorbing book.
