Amy Butler's In Stitches
|
|
I bought Amy Butler's In Stitches together with Lotta Jansdotter's Simple Sewing, I was immediately struck by the similarity between the books and their projects. I have to agree with some other reviewers in saying the books scored more on style than content. I was disappointed to find I had to draft many of the projects myself as there was no pattern, this adds so much more time to a project. The projects themselves were either ridiculously simple and needed no instruction, ie hem a piece of cloth and call it a tea towel, or were fiddly and lacking clear instructions, some were just plain pointless, the Giftable Recipe Card Bags, and the Document Duvet for instance. To finish on a more positive note some of the patterns look useful and having spent all that money my pride will ensure I make some of them up.
